Taksim – Flavours of Istanbul – is a full course Turkish restaurant established in 2013; with a concept that was successfully studied with the purpose of filling the gap of “high quality, gourmand, healthy fast-food” in the market, with many branches under development all over the country. The brand gets its name from the Taksim Square located in the European art of Instabul.
It was founded in 2013 by a group of Turkish companies developing different activities in Romania (such as Salad Box, Pepper&Pepper, etc.). The client is a native of Turkey and has always dreamed of bringing the taste of his homeland to Bucharest where his clients could really appreciate the sights, smells and flavours of Turkish cuisine.
The year 2017 was a new beginning for the design direction of the brand. The client decided to bring an upgrade by developing a new Taksim project – Taksim seated, with fresh new elements in design and food menu, while keeping the actual details of the brand – the copper inlays and the black stone.

The purpose of this project was to develop a new design concept for the contemporary Turkish franchise retaining important aspects of the traditional restaurants of the past, identifying historic features throughout the design.
Based on the information gathered, design criteria was established for the design of individual restaurant components with a consistent image, adaptable to various sites and spaces.
The design of Taksim restaurants are inspired by historical and contemporary life of Istanbul. Natural elements like copper, antibacterial black stone and chrome are the main architectural finishing’s giving the unit an upscale look as well as ensuring a hygienic daily operation.
The authentic decoration reminds the guests the legendary Istanbul spice and Grand Bazaar and it’s open kitchen ensures transparency between the guest and the brand. Large TV screens running short video clips from daily life in Istanbul and Turkish food maintains an interactive and dynamic connection with the guests as well as easing the waiting time making it enjoyable.

Functionality. The place runs a traditional ‘open-plan’ design that is ideal for welcoming guests. The main theme and look of this specialty restaurant is an oriental cuisine served in a subtle Turkish inspired ambiance, while taking inspiration from the clean lines of industrial design.
